Stari bakarski Tupperware vaše bake bi zapravo mogao vrijediti prilično

Nemojte još bacati svoju starinsku kuhinjsku opremu.

Tupperware NIJE BPA.

Prije svega, vi, male dame Tupperware, ulazite u preklop: Nema sve Tupperware u sebi BPA.

Naravno, nastavit ćemo pratiti ovu znanstvenu raspravu i sve vas obaviještavati ako dođe do novih i važnih informacija. ”

Menjaju boje svake sezone. Donose nove linije proizvoda, a postepeno ukidaju stare.

I godinama nisam kupovao Tupperware proizvode.

I ta dama me je lagala.

I ja sam konsultant Tupperware -a. Ne, nisam ljubitelj korištenja mikrovalne pećnice. Period.

Postoje i mnoge druge marke.

All products available in the catalogues now are BPA free.

Tupperware follows the recommendations and guidelines of governmental regulatory agencies regarding materials that may be used in our high quality products. The Company also acknowledges the attitudes of consumers regarding products containing BPA. In its continuous search for the best materials for use in its products, Tupperware has found other materials with improved performance characteristics that have been approved by regulators to be BPA free to replace polycarbonate. As of March 2010, items sold by Tupperware US & CA are BPA free.

Thanks for the input Katrina. I originally wrote this post back in 2009 when Tupperware was not acknowledging consumer concerns about BPA. I have noted that the entire current product lineup is BPA-free, but still get asked VERY regularly about it.

Dear Friends, Some Tupperware products in India down here do not have a number, Why is tupperware doing like this?

by Sreeja August 25, 2012 at 9:51 am

Ladies, it is now 2012, and a lot has changed. If you went to a Tupperware party in March 2010, you were not being lied to by the dealers. Tupperware did listen, and everything sold from March 2010 to now in the US and Canada contains no BPA. If you have older products and don’t want to use them in the microwave, you can still use them in the refrigerator–that’s what I do. Or you can get rid of them. Be careful to keep up with the latest changes in products and laws.–Concerned Grandma, Not A Dealer

I have read most of the post here and to go back to 2009, yes the BPA was there but if you had researched a little further you would have found that Tupperware only used 1/1000th of what the FDA approved to be safe! Also, with a little more research you would have also found that Good Housekeeping tested Tupperware’s microwavable products and found after 1000’s of uses in the microwave NO BPA’S WERE FOUND! In the foods or the products! Amazing what a little research will find!

ALL lines of Tupperware is now BPA FREE!

by Anita October 5, 2012 at 8:38 pm

This is the Good Housekeeping research I was speaking of. I would think twice before I put Rubbermaid, Glad Ware, Glad Wrap or any other plastic in the microwave. I would also learn to use the power setting button, it is there for a reason.

I found this in another blog, but if you go to Good Housekeeping and search their archive section on BPA’s you will find this!

Good Housekeeping research.

We all do it: Pop a plate of leftovers covered with plastic wrap in the microwave or warm up extra tomato sauce in a plastic container. But news reports have suggested that this may not be perfectly safe, that if there are chemicals — phthalates and BPA — in the plastic, they might migrate into our food. How likely is this? To find out, we shopped at supermarkets and mass merchandisers for leading brands of microwave-safe containers, wraps, and bags, and at a dollar store for some so-called value brands. We also tossed into our shopping cart packages of best-selling frozen dinners for both children and adults and plastic liners designed to be used in a slow cooker. In short, we gathered together a potpourri of the kind of plastic items most of us use for heating foods.

We shipped several samples of each item off to an independent lab, where they were shredded into bits, then analyzed to see if any detectable amounts of BPA and phthalates were present in the products. The good news: Twenty-seven of the products tested contained no phthalates or BPA. Three, however, did contain low levels of BPA: the containers (or bottom sections) of Rubbermaid Easy Find Lids, Rubbermaid Premier containers, and Glad Storage Zipper Bags Glad Press’n Seal wrap had low levels of both phthalates and BPA. Next, the lab tested these four items with “food simulants” — chemicals designed to stand in for real food in a lab. (Our federal health agencies, like the FDA, allow the use of food simulants in testing.) Results: No detectable BPA or phthalates migrated from the products into the simulants.

For a real-life test, we microwaved Old World Style Ragú Traditional Smooth Pasta Sauce and Heinz Home Style Gravy Savory Beef in the two Rubbermaid containers and in a glass bowl covered with Press’n Seal. As you’re unlikely to heat up tomato sauce or gravy in a plastic bag, we eliminated the Glad Storage Zipper Bags from this part of the testing. The lab first evaluated the foods straight from the jars to ensure that there were no phthalates or BPA present in the sauces before they were transferred to the test containers. In addition to testing foods heated in brand-new containers, we used ones that we had put through 30 rounds of microwaving and cleaning in the dishwasher, to see if wear and tear made a difference.

Clearly good news: None of the samples of sauce or gravy had detectable levels of either BPA or phthalates.

First of all, this post was written in 2009 when Tupperware was NOT BPA free. Secondly, the point of this was that I did not approve of the company’s attitude toward BPA, not whether the chemical was actually in the product or not.

I never said Tupperware was lying to it’s customers. I was mad about their attitude toward BPA. They just didn’t seem to care that customers were pushing for BPA products.

The list of products containing BPA can be found here: Which Tupperware Products Have BPA in Them?

All plastics used in the microwave are probably leaching some chemicals into your food. Tupperware is not alone in this. All of the companies do the best they can to reduce this risk, but it is not 100% foolproof. If you are unsure, use glass/ceramic/porcelain etc that are microwave safe. Also remember that Tupperware should only be heated at half power in the microwave, not full power.

What’s up colleagues, good article and fastidious arguments commented at this place, I am actually enjoying by these.

Folks, we have to remember that Tupperware products that are made now are all BPA free. Tupperware that is made BEFORE March 2010 should be replaced with non-BPA Tupperware. Not all products made prior to 2010 carried BPA. If you purchase your products from a Tupperware Rep, it’s always BEST to ask if they are purchasing this item from the current warehouse or is this item from their personal stock? If it is from their personal stock, I’d ask what the original purchase date was. Distributors will tend to stock up on items and they may be made prior to 2010. I do not stock up on my purchases specifically for this reason and I like to make sure I have this year’s colors. As for the price, you are paying for the Lifetime warranty that is on most items. If you purchase your Tupperware items on sale, it is very affordable.

I have a question for you. I have a lot of Tupperware container before 2010. Can I take it to the store and exchange it for the newest one w/ BPA free ? How do I know which one BPA free when I compare them ? Hvala ti.

Okay, so I am one of the little old ladies, my pantry looks great because everything has been transferred to the plastic square things sold for that purpose-I have orange and blue lids but all was bought decades before 2010-do I need to toss it? Hard to say from comments here. Also the bright colored tumblers and sippy cups?

by debby April 30, 2014 at 5:46 pm

I have tons of Tupperware some probably from the 60’s & 70’s. Some I have had forever & some I inherited. It would take a month of Sundays to list all that I have. The most used is for food storage in the fridge. I usually drink out of the old pink plastic tumblers and the cereal bowls are used for ice cream. I have thought of dumping it all after reading the concerns about BPA & phathalates, also other dangerous chemicals in our everyday products, whether it is storage, hair products, deodorants, makeup so on & on & on. I Love Tupperware and haven’t had any new items in years. I am between a rock and a hard spot as my Mother would say. This World is getting really scary & cancer is running rampant. The Big Corporations care only about lining their pockets and they can afford to buy things that wouldn’t harm their families or do they?

I have quite a bit of Ultra 21 ware that I have used for years. Tonight I reheated leftover potatoes (originally baked in a Pyrex pie plate with butter, sea salt and pepper) in ultra 21. First I popped the dish in the microwave for 50 seconds, then moved them to the toaster oven at 350 degrees while I fried hamburgers. I began to smell an odor similar to melting plastic lids on a dishwasher coil. The smell only lasted a short while and I failed to find the source. As we were finishing dinner I again microwaved a small amount of potatoes that had cooled. My husband and I both smelled the odor again and this time it even smelled smokey, almost like a cigarette. It was definitely the dish, even the ultra 21 lid smelled. Have you read or discovered what the ultra 21 ware is made of, and does it deteriorate over time?

Description

Grandma’s Lime Green Jello Salad Recipe (with Cottage Cheese & Pineapple) is a retro lime jello salad that my husband’s grandma made for many holiday meals. To continue with the tradition, I make this every Thanksgiving.

Sastojci

  • 1 cup crushed pineapple (drained with juice reserved)
  • 1 cup water (more or less depending on what’s needed, see instructions below)
  • 2 packages lime jello ( 3 oz each)
  • 1 cup mayo
  • 1 cup evaporated milk (canned)
  • 1 cup small curd cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (chopped)

Instrukcije

  1. In a large multi-cup measuring cup (I use my 4 cup Pyrex), add all of the reserved pineapple juice and then add enough water to the juice to make a total of 2 cups. Pour into pot and bring just to a boil.
  2. Add the lime Jell-o mixes to the boiling pineapple juice/water and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat, allow to cool just slightly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, stir together the mayo and evaporated milk. Combine until very smooth. Slowly stir in the Jell-o mixture until all is incorporated with the mayo/milk mixture. Stir in the crushed pineapple, cottage cheese, and walnuts.
  4. Pour mixture into an 8࡮″ glass casserole pan. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight (preferred).

Napomene

–To avoid waste, I often add all of the drained crushed pineapple from the can into this recipe, even if it’s more than a cup, and if I don’t need the leftovers for anything else.

–For serving, this Lime Jello Salad can be cut into squares or spooned from the dish.

–This recipe can be made 1-3 days in advance.

Tupperware Through the Ages

Every 1.5 seconds, somewhere on the planet, a Tupperware party is thrown nearly $2.6 billion dollars’ worth of Tupperware is sold annually in more than 100 markets worldwide. By the numbers alone, the kitchenware company that New Hampshire inventor Earl Tupper founded in 1946 displays its reach. Take a closer look at Tupperware’s trajectory, and you can chart the past half-century of kitchen culture in the U.S. and beyond.
Read more about the history of Tupperware »

Bell Tumbler introduced in 1946
Tupperware products actually had their inception not in the kitchen but on the battlefield Earl Tupper had worked for DuPont developing the country’s first plastics for use in World War II radars. Around 1942, casting about for nonmilitary uses for the flexible material, he created an injection-molded polyethylene cup, which he called the Bell Tumbler. It was introduced to the market in 1946. Todd Coleman Wonderlier Bowl introduced in 1946
Along with the Bell Tumblers, Tupperware introduced the sealed, nesting Wondelier Bowls. With an 80 percent increase in home refrigeration in the 1940s, food storage proved to be the perfect application for Tupper’s durable polymer. The stackable containers organized the fridge and spoke to a growing interest in hygiene their patented “burping” seal-its name echoing a primary maternal task of 1940s housewives–kept foods fresh. Todd Coleman Dip ‘N Serve Tray introduced in the 1950s Tupperware fit the changing American lifestyle in other ways, too. From 1947 to 1953, America’s suburban population grew by 1.3 million people per year, and the use of Tupperware spread with the suburbs, aided by a sales method matched to the postwar era’s renewed domesticity: the Tupperware Home Party, an all-female gathering centered on product demonstrations. As Americans entertained more at home, Tupperware developed hostess-friendly items like the bowl-and-platter Dip ‘N Serve Tray. Todd Coleman Millionaire Collection Salt and Pepper Shakers 1960
As early as 1947, Tupperware was targeting upwardly mobile consumers with lines like the pastel Millionaire Collection, displayed and sold at the time in department stores. This item, which has an atomic-era style to it, incorporated a small toothpick holder at the top of the stand between the shakers. Todd Coleman Carousel Caddy 1961
Items like the “soft glowing” 1955 TV Tumblers were made to suit a decade that ended with 50 million televisions in U.S. homes. The Carousel Caddy, a further development in Tupperware’s home entertainment products, could hold half a dozen beverage-filled Tumblers securely within the built-in coasters on its bottom tier, while snacks sat on its top tier. A handle at top (not shown) was designed for easy transport from the kitchen to the TV room–or the backyard, an increasingly popular spot for home entertainment. Todd Coleman Cake Taker 1995
In the 1950s, as backyard barbecues and picnics grew in popularity, Tupperware introduced the Pie Taker, a sealed round storage container for easy transport of homemade desserts to wherever the meal with family and neighbors might take place. This later-model Cake Taker is a descendant of that mid-century design. Jon Whittle Tortilla Keeper 2005
In the jet-set 1960s, Tupperware sought to feed globalizing appetites with domestically marketed “ethnic” items like the Tortilla Keeper, which–like many Tupperware products–has evolved in style through the years but remains in the product catalogue. One way to tell the age of an item? Look at its colors: pieces from the 1940s and 󈧶s are white or pastel, while later items are saturated in bright hues. Todd Coleman Servalier Brown Canister 1962
Each of the storage canisters in the Servalier line, which nested within one another in graduated sizes, came with a decorative flower emblem on its smudge-proof textured exterior. With the canisters, like the one “made to order for the larger package of Ritz crackers,” Tupperware sought to capitalize on the increasing popularity of packaged foods. Todd Coleman Astro Bowl 1972
The Servalier canister also came with an “instant touch,” air-tight seal that was designed to be closed easily by pushing down on the center of the lid¿s sunburst pattern, a lasting Tupperware feature seen here on the Astro Bowl from a decade later. Todd Coleman Crisp It 1983
One of Tupperware’s strategies for expansion has been to develop items for specialized storage needs. First introduced in the 1960s, this “lettuce keeper” was designed to help greens retain their freshness and color. Inside the bowl was a removable round grate that held a lettuce head stationary on a spike, suspending it above any moisture that might accumulate at the bottom of the bowl. The domed section of its pull-tab seal depressed when sealed to remove excess air, further ensuring crispness. Todd Coleman Keep Tabs 2009
Always more functional than fashionable, Tupperware products reflect the most practical concerns of the world’s home cooks: Kimchi Keepers for Korea, ventilated CheeSmart cheese storers for Europe, the microwave-friendly TupperWave Stack Cooker for the fast-paced American market. The new Keep Tabs containers–nesting with their seals on, like Russian dolls, and available in sizes as small as five ounces–were an instant hit in countries like Mexico and Uruguay where kitchens are small and every bit of saved food counts. The sets are just one of 135 new products Tupperware released last year, many of them made with both space-saving and conservation in mind. Jon Whittle Nature Nano Water Filter 2010
Other new Tupperware items address needs surrounding the planet’s most precious beverage and cooking liquid: a water storage unit for Indian households, where tap water is available only a few hours a day the top-selling, reusable Eco Bottle and, shown, a countertop filtration system, which cleans industrial pollutants from tap water. I think the colour is the best thing about this jam. Beautiful!

Good for you - I am afraid of jam making!

what a wonderful way of using up your peaches! it really looks yummy! very well done,

I woud love to have that marmalade on toast every morning.

Oh wow, that looks great! Your blog is adorable!

Thank you all! I have so many jars--if you were closer (this definitely rules you out, Pity) I'd drop one by! I'm sure I'll manage though :)

I've been making jam all summer but I never got around to peach. Thanks for the reminder its still not too late.

I've seen your beautiful jam posts, Alice. You should try this peach--no pectin. Lako. I love the vibrant, grainy pics you have up of your berry jam. Looks lovely.

ooh olive oil layer cake? do reveal the recipe, please. :)

Ah yes, the olive oil cake. I'll dig up the recipe and try to get it up soon-ish. I did a stupid thing and packed all of my cookbooks in anticipation of moving soon. turns out the move wasn't as soon as I thought and now I'm without some of my favorites!

Wow--I've never had a comment mid-recipe before. Hopefully it's not too late, but you want to add the lemon juice with the sugar. they all kind of hang out together before you cook it on the stove. Good luck--let me know how it turns out!

I made this jam and blogged about it today. Delicious! Hvala na dijeljenju!

I made a big batch of peach jam from some farmstand peaches and had a total pectin disaster (misread 3 teaspoons as 3 TABLESPOONS--you can slice it with a knife!). So we got more peaches from our farm share today and I found your recipe and just made a lovely batch of jam with no pectin. Unfortunately, it only made 2 jars b/c I only had 2 pounds of peaches, but that's fine. It's the jam I've been wanting. :)

And please tell more about the olive oil layer cake!

Dakle. Am in the middle of making the peach jam. Smells fantastic!! Did you ever post te olive oil cake. Many thanks-Linda

May I just say what a relief to uncover an individual who genuinely understands what they're discussing on the net. You actually understand how to bring an issue to light and make it important. A lot more people really need to read this and understand this side of the story. I was surprised you're not more popular given that you certainly possess the gift.

Great looking recipe! I was hoping for a peach jam recipe without pectin to make this weekend and I will be trying this out. Hvala!

So glad I found this, made peach jam last night w/pectin so sweet I know I won't eat but Hubby will. He sd be good over ice cream. Going to look for raspberry/strawberry recipe now. Mine didn't set.

exelent recipie to use up my peaches. followed the recipe closely and it works.like the 8cups sliced peaches,2cups sugar ,quarter cup lemon juice. thankyou for now.

I just made a double patch of this jam. I spiced it with a bit of Pumpkin Pie Spice. Very yummy! I plan on selling it at our Pumpkin Patch in October! Thanks for the great easy recipe.

This is great with jalapeños added for some kick. Good on chicken and pork or just on your toast with eggs

Thank you so much for posting this- my kids and I went peach-picking this morning, and now I'm canning this as we speak :) Looks great!

Thanks for sharing this delicious recipe. I bought the best peaches I could find and followed the recipe but had to cook the jam down a little longer. I am very happy with the results! It's the perfect balance of peach flavor, sweetness and tartness.

I saved the peach pit and some of the skins and tied it in a cheesecloth and placed it in the pot with the jam. It adds natural pectin. Also you might want to try that trick with sliced apples tied in a cheesecloth and placed in the pot. More sugar and longer cooking time might could also help!

Just made my first ever batch of peach jam using this recipe (as inspiration). I didn't want to use pectin so thank you for confirming that it isn't necessary. I used 15 peaches (about 5lbs), 2.5 c organic sugar, 3 tablespoons of Sicilian Lemon Balsamic vinegar and put it all in the slow cooker for 10 hours. Used an immersion blender to get it smooth and then jarred. Am wondering however if the darker color I got on my jam is due to the long cooking time. It isn't nearly as light and lovely as yours. I think the next batch will be stovetop to see what a difference it makes.

CAN you keep the skin ? I like skin on fruits , I like the crunchiness .
Hvala

You could spread your jam on toast, French toast, pancakes or waffles if you still have it?
